||HWI is very proud to support our Coach Wilson Ho in his position as a member of the Civil Aid Service.
Wilson spends many hours of his spare time in training and on duty contributing greatly to the community. Recently he was awarded a special commendation after a particularly dangerous and difficult rescue – below is Wilsons description of the incident, and photo of his subsequent award ceremony. Congratulations Wilson and well deserved!
I'm a member of Mountain Search and Rescue Company which is under The Civil Aid Service; it is an auxiliary force under the Security Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government. On 10th January 2013, there were 2 victims trapped in a mountain at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island. I was appointed to take up a post to rescue these 2 victims. These 2 victims were trapped in the mountain more than 16 hours, the temperature was only 8'C and they were in a very dangerous position not only because of the low temperature but they were trapped down a more than 200m valley. One of the victims was even unconscious; I demonstrated the techniques I have learnt in the past and overcame many difficulties during the rescue process. Finally, I sent the victims from the 200m deep valley to the top of mountain with the support of my teammates successfully and saved their lives.
As a result, HKSAR awarded me a Commissioner's Commendation to commend my dedication, leadership and outstanding performance in this mountain rescue operation.
May I take this opportunity to thank Harry Wright International Limited supporting me to be a member of Mountain Search and Rescue member and allow me to contribute to our society.
