The Festival of Sport; Hong Kong Sports Institute, April 15-16th.

The Festival of Sport is an Open competition held each year, and has tough qualifying times. The heats are swum in the morning, with those qualifying for finals competing in the afternoon. HWI swimmers who represented the SCAA club were;

On Saturday we had 3 swimmers who qualified for finals. Xiang Ma who qualified in the 100 freestyle and 400 IM, really stepped up swimming a personal best time of 53,74 in the freestyle, which was a 1 second faster than the morning heats and in the 400IM swam in 4:53,86, which was 4 seconds faster than his heat time.

We had two girls in the 200 backstroke final. Kylie Woo swam a controlled swim and placed second with a time of 2:26,86. Aneekah Styles also swam the 200 backstroke final. She swam a time of 2:36,87 which placed her 8th in the final.

Another notable performance from today came from Julian Chow in the 200m Breaststroke; his time of 2:40,79 was a great P.b and also 3 seconds faster than his time at Queensland States in December.

Well done also to Ariella Levy and Erin Deayton; showing many positive aspects in their events - a great stepping stone towards the rest of the season.

Sunday featured Siobhan Haughey who flew in from the US the night before and won highest point score in 100fr with a time of 55.16. Siobhan was only able to compete in the heats and then had to head straight back to US to prepare for exams.

Also on Sunday; Xiang Ma came 2nd in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.87. Xiang also got into the finals of the 100 fly and 100 free finishing with times of 59.89 and 53.7. Swimmers also finishing in the Top 8 were Kylie Woo in the 100 Back with a time of 1.11.01 and Nicole Evans in the both the 400 Free; 4.48.06, and the 400IM; 5.34.67.
