MANTAS SWIMATHON MARCH 17TH 2018 | |

Congratulations to the swimmers and parents who attended and supported the Mantas charity swimathon on Saturday March 17th at West Island school. It’s always amazing to see the swimmers go through barriers and complete such long distances with enthusiasm and smiles! We are hoping to arrange a visit to the Home of Loving Faithfulness in the next few months so that that families can have a chance to meet the people who live in the Home – we did this a few years ago and it was a rewarding experience for all. Ava has kindly offered to organize the visit and details will be sent out later. Back to this year’s Swimathon for which Coach David kindly prepared a new ‘Time Challenge’. This gave swimmers the motivation to not only complete the distance but also to attempt to swim fast over that distance. This gave the swimmers quite a new experience – and the results gave everyone a useful PB over the distance to record and improve on! Photos are available here – including some using the ‘frame’ designed by Coach Henry. PHOTOS Many thanks to the parents who helped with the counting and timing, and especially to Coach Adrian and Alex who stayed in support for the whole evening. Also to Mrs June Wright, who has attended for rather a long number of years and is still enthusiastically helping out!! Swimmers were rewarded after the event with certificates kindly prepared by Ingrid Leven, as well as swim towels as prizes. Pizza, cakes and drinks helped to replenish energy!
