Former Harry Wright International (HWI) swimmer Emeric Payer has set a new event record of 10 hours, 22 minutes and 59 seconds for the HKG360 swim around Hong Kong Island, finishing early on Monday afternoon at the Victoria Road swim shed.

A Record Finish for a Harry Wright Alumnus

Emeric, a former HWI, SCAA and Mantas swimmer who now lives and works in Hong Kong, completed the roughly 45km open water route after setting off in the early hours of Monday morning. Good weather and a dedicated support team helped him lower the event record. His parents, long-time supporters of HWI and the Mantas team, were at the finish to welcome him in.

Open Water Swimming in Hong Kong

Emeric's swim followed his earlier announcement that he would swim around the island to support marine research and the recovery of Hong Kong's coastal waters. You can read more about the swim in this HKBU report, or explore the history of swimming around Hong Kong.

Congratulations, Emeric
