January 11th 2026 Sprint Meet and Butterfly Stroke Camp

January 14, 2026

Sunday, January 11th was an exciting day at the South China Athletic Association (SCAA) as Harry Wright Swim School hosted two outstanding events: a specialized Butterfly Stroke Camp in the afternoon and a Sprint Meet in the evening. Both events were well-attended and delivered exceptional value to our swimmers and community.

Butterfly Stroke Camp: Focused Technical Development

In the afternoon, a group of 12 dedicated swimmers participated in our Butterfly Stroke Camp, a specialized training session designed to develop and refine butterfly technique. The camp featured expert coaching from Coach Chui, Coach Zento, and Coach Jericho, who provided personalized guidance and feedback to each swimmer.

A key component of the stroke camp was the use of video analysis, which allowed swimmers to visually review their technique and understand specific areas for improvement. This combination of live coaching and video feedback is one of the most effective ways for swimmers to accelerate their technical development.

The Butterfly Stroke Camp is an excellent example of how Harry Wright provides specialized training opportunities beyond regular team sessions. These camps allow swimmers to focus intensively on specific strokes, receive expert guidance, and gain valuable insights into their individual technique and performance.

Sprint Meet: Fast-Paced Racing and Personal Achievement

The evening Sprint Meet was a tremendous success, featuring a fast-paced racing format that kept the competition moving efficiently. The format required swimmers to enter only 2 events each, which made the meet quick and exciting while still providing meaningful racing opportunities.

All swimmers who participated performed admirably, achieving personal times and gaining valuable racing experience. The Sprint Meet format is an excellent way for swimmers of all levels to experience competitive racing in a supportive, fast-paced environment.

Community Support and Charitable Giving

We are deeply grateful to all the parents who volunteered as timekeepers throughout the day. Your willingness to support our events is essential to their success and greatly appreciated.

We also want to extend special thanks to all swimmers and families who participated in the Sprint Meet. Each participant was asked to donate $100 toward relief efforts for the Tai Po relief fund. Thanks to the generous support of our community, we have raised $7,600 to contribute to this important cause.

Looking Ahead: 2026 Event Planning

New competitive events for 2026 will be planned once we receive the updated HKGSA (Hong Kong Swimming Association) calendar. The HKGSA competitive year runs from April 1st, so we will have more details to share after the calendar is finalized.

Congratulations and Thank You

Congratulations to all swimmers who participated in both the Butterfly Stroke Camp and the Sprint Meet. Your dedication to improving your technique and racing competitively is commendable.

We look forward to continuing to provide excellent training and competitive opportunities for our swimmers throughout 2026!
